It's Very Simple

I would like weddings better if...

1. It was appropriate to send out evites to a wedding...I'm serious. I hate invitations. Just after finishing invitations to 2 of my best friend's showers I have now started on my engagement invitations. I immediately regret doing an engagement party instead of a shower- if I did a shower, someone would have to do this for me, haha.

2. No one else offered their opinions unless asked and even then, only said what I want to hear.

3. People did not move, change their last name or anything else that changes my very time consuming to deal with guest/address list.

4. I had no job and had time to dedicate my entire life to dealing with this party that will be over in 5 hours. Wait on second thought, I would hate being that large of a waste of life...moving on to #6...

5. If I had a personal assistant who would do all wedding related work for me, including bring me beautiful dresses that I love to my house to try on.

Is that really too much to ask?

On a positive note, I had a great weekend and succeeded in getting a small tan with NO tan lines by wearing my only strapless shirt I own. I am literally the queen of tan lines and uneven tanning, but I am trying to change my ways so I do not look ridiculous in my friend's wedding next week ( NEXT WEEK? AHH!) Speaking of that dress I am wearing, I picked it up last Thursday after having it altered A LOT. The lady was a serious miracle worker. It looks 300 times better. It amazes me that someone can alter the size of a dress so much. Anyway, I need to get to bed because I have an early appointment with an orthopedist about my knee (yay...or maybe yay!). I'll let you know how that goes. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  1. Weddings are so much work, aren't they? I bet you will never view them the same after going through the planning! I am not married yet, but have had many close friends get married, so I have a good understanding of how much work they are!!

Good luck with your MOH speech - you will do great. I don't have any fantastic advice - I've only given 2 speeches, so am not pro (although I have listened to about 20!) Anyways, I think it's good to keep it sort of shorter - like under 2 minutes. I like to close mine with a quote.

Good luck - let me know how it goes! I will also be giving a MOH speech next weekend for my little sister. I have a general outline, but need to polish it up.

  2. Ugh, weddings - stressful city! Actually, my boyfriends cousin was planning a wedding for TODAY, for like a year, and then they also bought a house this year so they postponed their wedding till next year. BUT we just found out on Friday that they are eloping to Tofino (Vancouver Island) and getting married THIS Thursday! They decided this on Friday! They are over-the-top excited about just getting it done and over with, a simple ceremony on the beach. Their invite was a facebook message!!!

Good luck with the tan lines, I still haven't managed to get rid of mine completely!

  3. I definitely agree with the eVite idea. Another good idea - email thank you notes. I would have finished them much faster.

  4. I remember trying to plan my wedding in CT from OR with a three hour time difference. Being a teacher sucks because of the inability to make personal calls during most of the work day. When I would end work at 3, places on the East Coast would already be closed! I seriously did most of my arrangements on one particular snow day because I had the whole entire day to make calls. That was lucky!

I always tried to keep in mind that it is one day and that stressing over things was not worth it. I found something I liked (dress, flowers, shoes etc.) and just went with it if I liked it rather than searching and searching for each little item.

It is so exciting when such a close friend gets married! Can't wait to see pics and hear about it.

  5. Weddings are stressful just thinking about. cousins did e-vites and it was totally cute and appropriate. Our family didn't care in the slightest that they didn't get paper it's eco-friendly, and easy because we could just click on the link to their website and registry.

  6. A friend just got married last week and she was a Bridezilla during the planning process. I still haven't heard how it all went.
Sending eVites sounds good to me. Don't stress too much, girl. Breathe. :D

  7. Haha, I totally agree with you on the whole wedding criteria! Its so much stress just to make the day "perfect"....
Hope your knee appointment goes well :)

  8. I have a wedding next weekend too! I had my dress altered too, and the lady did a great job, it looks 100 times better on me now.

I agree with our wedding wish list. I'm not looking forward to doing all that stuff, and I'm all about evites! haha wouldn't it be funny if you did that?! I would laugh. But hey, it's YOUR wedding! Do what you want :)

  9. oh my god. #2 all the way. SHUT UP ALREADY! :) that's all i want to say to, everyone. lol. it's fun, but it's definitely a pain!
